Etiqa Insurance and Takaful Launches Etiqa Academy

Kuala Lumpur – Etiqa Insurance & Takaful today launched the Etiqa Academy, a centre for learning and development specifically designed for growing and advancing its 26,000 agents nationwide.

“In line with the brand platform of humanizing insurance and takaful, the Etiqa Academy provides Etiqa agents with a crystal clear and thorough learning and development program, touching on the various aspects of personal growth and technical skills competency. The agents will then have rock solid technical knowledge to advice customers correctly and are trained to do so professionally, with courage, integrity and empathy,” said Dato Aminuddin Md Desa, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Etiqa at the academy’s official opening ceremony.

Located in the heart of town along Jalan Melaka, the academy is a formal vocational based and business driven “school” and is expected to provide a structured learning path for the agents and financial executives, where the agents or financial executives will go through learning and development modules that parallel their growth in the business. In order to provide a stronger career path for Etiqa distributors, a 3-year long learning roadmap has been developed to cater for new agents, existing agents, new leader and existing leaders.

The modules are impressive and cover everything from a foundation phase program that introduces the Etiqa Sales culture with a structured sales approach as well as modules such as legal aspects of insurance, principles in Takaful, retirement planning, education planning, financial planning and risk management, objection handling and more at the development phase.

For agency leaders, they will go through additional modules such as agency activity management and sales management which will help them oversee, manage and motivate their agents in achieving their sales. At the end of the roadmap, agents will be further equipped with counselor selling skills and modules that will provide them with the recognition as professional financial planners.

Shahril Azuar Jimin, Chief Sales Officer added, ”The agency force is one of the key distribution and sales channel for Etiqa and as such we want to provide them with as much support, incentives, benefits and convenience as possible to ensure that they are able to perform excellently and deliver their targets. The Etiqa Academy is definitely one of the biggest benefits they will get as Etiqa agents.”

The Etiqa Academy is located in the Akademi Etiqa building in Jalan Melaka and has 10 training rooms located at 3 different floors allowing up to 400 agents to enjoy training at one time. Each room is equipped with the latest audio video system, furniture and with facilities that provide maximum comfort to all agents attending the training programs.

The academy is also equipped with an agents’ lounge, several discussion rooms, resource centres and computer corners for the agents to use in between training programs or at their leisure when they are at the academy. The official offices for the agents' associations in Etiqa are also located inside the academy. The offices at level 16 are for WATAKMAS, which is the association for Etiqa Takaful agents and also EtiqaFAA, the association for Etiqa Insurance agents.

The launching of the Etiqa Academy was done by Dato Mohd Salleh Hj Harun, Chairman of Etiqa Insurance and Takaful and was witnessed by more than 150 guests comprising of Etiqa top agents and leaders from around the country and business partners such as Maybank and Universiti Utara Malaysia.
